The stainless steel design is very attractive and goes well in my kitchen. We have a stainless steel fridge and some appliances, so it fits right in. With it's very attractive design, I keep it on display at the dinner table, or by my stove, depending on what is most convenient at the time. It doesn't hide with the spices. 

The design allows for an hourglass effect, so that you can store both salt and pepper in the same mill, having a grinder on each side. Each end is capped with a flat stainless steel cap. The caps are a little temperamental for me, as sometimes I can pop them off with very little effort and others I have to shove my nail in the crevice to get it to open.

I chose to put sea salt and whole black peppercorn into my grinder. You simply unscrew the stainless steel portion that allows you to add in your ingredient. Screw it back on and you are ready to use the grinding mill. Each end has a little dial that you can adjust whether you'd like it to grind more or less fine. For instance, I keep my salt a little more open so that they are larger and my pepper I like more fine. 

The end product is very attractive. You can get creative with different colors of salt or spice mixtures.
