My thoughts:
My family has just recently been to the dentist and needless to say, I shelled out quite a bit of money on dental bills. I experience problems with my gums and the main solution is to floss more. The dentist and assistants harp on that more than anything else. I was provided this unit at a discount to review and it came at perfect timing for my family. I need to be flossing way more than I do, so over the past week or so, I've stepped up my game. Right now, my gums are unhealthy and do experience bleeding. I do notice, by using this water flosser and regular floss I have seen a reduction over the past week. I plan to keep up with it.
This unit has a reservoir that you fill up. You can either fill through a small hole in the top or take the reservoir off the unit, fill it and put it back on. I've found that removing it to fill it, is actually easier to do. It is powered by an internal rechargeable battery. The charging cable is included and has a unique plug. It's the only thing I own with that sort of plug, so I'll be sure not to lose it.
The controls are buttons pressed on the front. To turn on, you press the on/off button. The default power is actually a little too powerful for me, so I switch the mode to soft instead. You can also use the pulse function. There is definitely a technique to using it. You have to angle the unit up to the side as well as your elbow, so the water won't be running down the unit or your arm. It's very easy to make a mess if you aren't careful.
The heads can be changed out. It comes with two heads that are each marked with their own colored marker. Because the fact that it is rechargeable and doesn't have to be tethered to a wall, I can take it to work with me and floss after lunch. That is an improvement in my routine. I am very happy with the Gurin water flosser.
