I have tried many other types of phone mounts and I really like the mounts that are magnetic. This one is a little different than others I've tried because it mounts to your vent. I was excited to try it out.
I have a BLU Studio Energy phone which has a decent size to it. It's heavier than my previous Galaxy S3. My worry was that it wouldn't support the weight of my phone.
Out of the package, I have:
-phone mount
-rounded rectangle metal piece with adhesive back
-circle metal piece with adhesive back
Fairly easy to apply and use the product. You put the metal piece between your phone and case. The adhesive strip helps keep it secure from moving around. I have attached mine to the battery and replaced the battery door. The metal is so thin that it does not effect the fit to the case at all. You can attach it to the outside of your battery door and put a phone case over that.
Now mount your vent mount. It has four rubbery prongs that stick out the back. Place the vent between the prongs so that it is secure. The rubbery prongs will not damage the vent at all.
This is where the magic happens. To use it you just place your phone against the mount. The magnet in the mount will attract the thin piece of metal you have in your phone case and hold it secure. Now my phone is rather large and as you would guess, the vent moves easily. There really is nothing to keep your vent from moving down with the weight of your phone. Luckily with my KIA, the phone rests against the console at an angle where I can still view my phone screen easily. Mine needs to rest on the console for the extra support.
The magnet, however holds onto the phone firmly. There is no worry of it coming loose or falling down. I can even drive through bumpy areas and have no problems.
This type of magnetic phone mount makes it so easy to use. You just place your phone on it and pick it up when you want to take it off. It's a lot quicker than using mounts that require you to release a spring activated arm or have to use a knob to release the phone.
You can use this to mount just about anything. Use the adhesive back on the metal strip and place it on GPS units, MP3 players, etc. Whatever you'd want mounted. I have an older TomTom (it's original mount lost long ago) that will not fit in ANY phone mount that I've tried. As you can see from the pics, I put the smaller round piece on it and can now mount my GPS unit.
I would highly recommend. With my car vents, it worked out great for me and I did not experience any issues at all with it pulling out. My only concern is how this might perform on a more flimsy car vents that you see in older cars.
