I am indeed impressed by this product.
Firstly, I'd like to give kudos on the company name, Orion. We named my son Orion and I obviously love that name.
This product has something different than others that I've tried, as it combines 2 very useful tools, a camping lantern and a recharging power bank.
Opening the packing, It came with the lantern, a set of batteries to power the lantern, and a set of special rechargeable batteries for the power bank.
I love that it actually comes with the batteries, which most companies don't include.
You'd think with the batteries, it's combined weight would be hefty, but it's actually quite light and easy to carry. The metal handles turn up when you want to hold it and fold down when you don't.
You lift the top section up to power it on, and the glow comes from the middle. Such a unique design and works splendidly. To switch between light settings, there is a button you press. Switch between high white, low white, red and flashing red. The light is extremely bright and I do not recommend you look directly into it. You will be seeing spots for a bit afterward if you do.
To turn off the lantern, you just push down the top to close it. So easy!
Now, the power bank portion is extremely helpful also. I love that it is a part of this lantern and is a great combination to take with you camping or on outings.
It comes with a USB cord that you use for charging, both ways.
To charge up your power bank, plug the USB end into your computer and micro-usb end into the Orion lantern. When it is done charging, the button on the front will glow blue.
Keep the USB cord with the lantern, or closeby, so when you take it out and want to charge your phone, you simply plug the USB end into the Orion lantern, and the micro-usb into your phone.
It really is as simple as that.
It comes with a little hook that I use to hang the lantern from things, hooking one end onto the handle and the other onto string or whatever I can fit it over. When I am storing my Orion lantern, I use the little hook to attach my USB cord to my lantern, so they stay together.
I am beyond impressed at this product. I think it is genius to combine these two things and the application of such is a high quality design.
I actually used the lantern part just last night again, when we were pressure washing the house and it started to get dark. By the time we were cleaning everything up in the yard, it was pitch black and I used this lantern to illuminate the yard while we worked. It came in handy!
