0 Tropical Traditions Shredded Coconut Review and Giveaway Ends 04-29

I've brought you many products from Tropical Traditions. They are an amazing company that makes products that are healthy for you and are the highest quality made from coconut oil. I haven't tried anything from their company that I didn't like. Today I am sharing the coconut itself - shredded.

"Tropical Traditions 100% natural Shredded Coconut, Coconut Flakes, and Coconut Chips are made from organic dried coconuts in the Philippines that are grown with no fertilizers or pesticides. This premium dried coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, our dried coconut products are not treated with sulfites to keep them white. They are a great addition to recipes and baking, or just for snacks! Note: The Shredded Coconut is a very small cut, suitable for baking, such as making macaroons. The Coconut Flakes are a larger shredded coconut cut, perfect for garnishing or toppings, such as the top of a coconut cream pie. The Coconut Chips are a much larger cut that can be used as a snack food. You can mix them with nuts and dried fruit, for example."
I received a tub of the shredded coconut....and I mean TUB! This bad boy was 3.5 pounds worth of shredded coconut packed right up to the top. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how big it was. This huge tub is only $17.50, an amazing price. If you went to buy it at the store, it would be much more expensive. They even have smaller versions, 2.2 lb for $8.50 and 1 lb for $4.50.
The tub is a very thick plastic and the top is on there pretty sturdy. I had to have my hubby help me open it. Even though I had a time getting into it, the seal is airtight, so you can reseal it up and know it's secure.
When I first opened it, I was hit with the aroma of coconut. It smelled amazing and made me want to start eating it by the handfuls. (I didn't, by the way). The shredded coconut is finely shredded. I usually buy the coconut flakes to use when making deserts and that's only good for certain desserts. I love how finely this coconut was. I immediately knew the first thing I was going to make is some sort of cupcake or cookie with it because of it's texture.
I decided to make coconut cookies. You can see how awesome they turned out. They tasted just as delicious. Because of the finely shredded texture, they mixed into the batter easily and the result in the cookies was amazing, if I do say so myself. Now I have tons of ideas on what to do with my fun tub-o-coconut like pancakes, cupcakes, layered cookie bars, coconut shrimp, cornbread, and so much more.
I urge you to try it out. You may decide to try the smaller amounts. I will make good use out of my tub and when I buy again, that's the one I'll go for again. Especially if you bake a lot, this will be a life-saver. No more saving the coconut recipes for special occasions!
