I was lucky enough to receive a box of their English toffee to try out. I am not one that eats sweets all of the time and will usually pass up on cake or brownies, but I am a sucker for some good chocolate and especially anything toffee.
I appreciate attention to detail and the packaging plays a big role for me in the whole experience. My toffee arrived in a box and ice pack to keep the chocolate cool. (I'm in FL, so nothing stays cool for long, even with an ice pack) The candy box is gold and tied off with a gold cord ribbon. Once you open it up, each toffee piece is the perfect size for a snack. They were all lined up in rows, even after all the jostling around that happens in shipping. Nothing was melted so the ice pack did it's job quite well.
Now onto the good stuff....How did I like it? I loved it! When I first got it, it went straight to the fridge so the first one that I tried was refrigerated. The middle is made up of solid toffee, with a layer of chocolate and covered with bits of nut. Straight from the refrigerator, the chocolate kind of cracked apart and you got the full crunchy goodness of the toffee and chocolate. Absolutey delicious. I take small bites, so was able to get quite a few bites from each square, enjoying each and every bite. I left it out to warm to room temperature to see if that would make a difference in taste. The chocolate was much softer and it did make quite a bit of difference. You taste the chocolate more when you first bite into it and then the toffee after, as you are chewing it. Personally, I prefer them refrigerated. It's a texture thing, but either way you eat it, they are so yummy!
