Right away, you are drawn to the appeal of these grinders. They are very sleek looking. Most of the body you are seeing is stainless steel (which looks great in any kitchen) There is a see-through acrylic window for you to see your ingredient. The bottom portion houses the actual grinder which is ceramic.
Getting it ready to use was interesting at first. That whole top portion you see is what houses the motor and batteries. It takes 4 AA batteries which are not included. You take off that top piece and insert your batteries. To fill the basin is a little more tricky. There is a small opening that has a post right in the middle of it. You can't really use a funnel. I started with the peppercorn. I ended up just making a funnel with my hand and still lost a few here and there. It's actually easier to fashion a funnel from a piece of paper. Works out much better because you can fit it to the size of the opening.
Put your pieces all back together and you are good to go. You can set the coarseness of the grind by turning the dial on the grinder. The closer the two grinder pieces are together, the finer the grind. You simply press the button on the top and it does the grinding for you. Amazing.
***my favorite thing about this is a small LED light right by the grinder. As you press the button to grind, it turns the light on.
So, the startup wasn't as smooth for me as it could have been but I am truly loving how easy these are to use. Obviously they work great for salt and pepper. They work for any kind of seasoning. I had bought a seasoning blend that included it's own manual grinder which was terrible. I decided to open it up and put the seasoning into one of these and it's remarkable how much time this saves me when seasoning my food.
Christmas is coming up and this would be an amazing gift! I already have a couple people on my list this would be great for. I did receive this product in exchange for my honest review, but the opinions are mine.
If you find that you have trouble with this, make an effort to take a satta king satta Bazaar bite and then put your utensil down.
