My opinion:

This is a whole new experience for me and I wasn't sure what to expect. I experience back aches occasionally but my hubby deals with back pain daily. He has a physically demanding job and is always groaning about his neck, back and legs hurting.
We gave this Santamedical Tens Unit a try. It's the first time either one of us has tried one out. It arrives in a little reusuable box that shuts with a magnet. It's a sturdy cardboard so, I will be storing my Tens unit in it while not in use. I expected a large machine with electrodes to accomplish the task of being an "electronic pulse massager" What I found when I opened the box, was a small device, about the size of an ipod/mp3 player and just as light.
The kit comes with the device, 2 sets of pads/cords, and a USB/wall charger.
I put it to use right away and we've been using it for the past week. It runs off of an internal rechargeable battery. You take the sticky pads and attach the cords. Stick them wherever you want pain relief. We both usually place on our lower back, but my hubby has used it on his neck, back and leg. I only use one set at a time, but it actually comes with 2 sets and you can use 2 sets at the same time if you want to.
There are 8 different settings that you can switch between. I personally like setting number 4. Just use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the intensity. The device sends electronic pulses to your skin through the sticky pads. I can only handle intensity of about 4 which is not very high. Any higher than that, it feels like the electronic pulses are little needles. 4 and below feels like a massage and it's awesome. As I'm writing this, I have it on my lower back, on setting 4, at intensity of 4.
There is a little piece of plastic that you can place your sticky pads onto between uses and you can wrap your cord around it. That way your pads don't dry out as quickly. The pads will start to become less sticky after a bit and you will have to replace them. That is where it gets pricey. The replacement pads are not cheap. That is why I am sure to keep them on the plastic between use.
Now, I am not going to say that this cured any back pain or fixed us at all. I can vouch that it does feel really nice and I'm much more relaxed after using it, which usually my back and muscles are relaxed and I'm relieved of my aches for a little while.
We've been using it regularly and will continue to do so. I am really glad that we got it!
