My take on it:
This camping lantern is very nice to have in case of emergency power outage and to take with you on outings. The camping lantern has a rugged rubberized outer coating to the body so it won't get banged up when it clunks against other things.

You power it with 3 D batteries, which I was surprised that I actually had on hand. It does give the camping lantern some weight to it. This is something so simple to do, but if you don't read the directions first, you will spend some time getting the battery cover back on. You simply need to line up the arrows and it goes on smoothly.

To power on, you just press the button on the front. Each time you press it, it will cycle between normal, bright, flashing and off. With 300 lumens output, even the first click is super bright. The covering that goes over the LED lights is frosted, so you don't see the LED light directly, just the bright aura of light emitted from it.

The base is a flat square that is sturdy and not easily tipped over. There is a metal handle resting against the side of the lantern that you can swing up to carry by hand. You can even hang it upside down by a fold-out hook in the bottom of the lantern.

This lantern is absolutely perfect for camping but I am finding uses for it at home all the time. With simple tasks as going out at night to check something out, I can take this lantern with me and it's bright enough to see what I need in the yard. Our power is ALWAYS going out so this is a comfort to have with my emergency kit in case that happens at night.

I'm very impressed by the design of the lantern and the brightness of the light.
