0 Snacking with Marys, Numi, Nutiva
I recently got the opportunity to try out some snack foods from Mary's Numi and Nutiva. It's a great addition to my newer, healthier lifestyle of eating. Like most people, that has been a struggle, to eat healthier, and over the past couple years, I've really tried to put the extra effort into it. The problem is that most "healthy" snacks taste like cardboard and it's difficult to keep your motivation.
I'd like to share my experiences with these snacks.
Mary's Gone Crackers: Double Chocolate cookies. This package came with a plastic sleeve with 5.5 oz of cookies. At first glance, I thought they'd be the crumbly type of cookies. I was pleasantly surprised that they were soft and did not crumble when biting into them. I actually like to break a piece off by hand and eat that bite by bite. For being a chocolate snack, where I don't normally allow myself chocolate in my diet, it was a treat. It did have a "healthy" food taste to it, and I think that is because it is not pumped full of sugar like your typical snack. It was very rich in chocolate taste and definitely deserves a drink of milk with it.
Mary's Gone Crackers: Super Seed crackers. These are actually more my kind of snack, a salty snack that I can munch on throughout the day. packaged much like the cookies, it contains 5.5 oz of round seed crackers. As soon as you open the bag, you get a powerful whif of seeds, My immediate recognition was sunflower seeds. They are a crunchy snack and have a seedy flavor. Once you start chewing them, you really start to detect the different flavors.
Numi Tea: Tomato Mint. This one was the most interesting to me. I would never in a million years pick up a package of tomato mint tea off the shelf at the store and buy it to try it. That's one of the great thing about being about to review this is that I'm glad I got the opportunity to try it. It is a very faint taste of tomato and a more prevalent mint taste. It actually works quite well for me and I enjoy it. I had my daughter blind taste test it for me to see what flavors she detects and she did taste tomato in it but it took her a while to figure that out, because it's so faint. The tomato really just gives a base / body to the tea more than being a flavor in it.
Nutiva O'Coconut treats:These little snacks are my favorite, so I saved them for last. I only received 4 little single serve sample packets, so I got to try 2 of the Classic and 2 of the Hemp & Chia. They actually both tasted very similar to me. They are a great snack size and are chewy and full of coconut flavor like a macaroon without being over the top sweet. I didn't notice a great difference between the two flavors, and I loved them both. I would love to buy some more of these and keep on hand to snack on. One serving is 60 calories, so I'd have to be careful not to over-indulge.
I encourage you to check them out yourselves and make some healthier choices in snacking.
