My opinion:
My family is definitely in the age of technology. We all have smart phones, tablets, computers, game systems....you name it. When we go out of the house, a very real concern of ours is how we will charge the phones. Is there a charger in the car, what about if we go out for an extended period of time. Will there be a wall charger??? The struggle is real, people. I do know that we should not be so attached to our devices, but what can I say. I'm joined at the hip with mine and my family follows suit. Anyway, I am loving this new line of products that is out where you can charge this portable charger, which you can then charge your phone while you are out.
The Lifeguard Mini portable charger I chose is a black color. It came out of the box with a short USB to MicroUSB cord and an Apple lightning cord. I have a Galaxy S3, so I only need to use the USB for mine.
Charging your phone is so simple. You plug the USB cord into the Lifeguard, then into your computer USB port. (You can use a wall adapter with USB also which charges much faster but the adapter is not included)
Take it with you in your bag, purse, pocket and do the reverse to charge your phone. USB end into the Lifeguard and small end into your phone. It is not an instant charge. It is about average to your phone charging naturally with a USB charger. The good thing is that you can keep on using your phone while it is charging.
We go to theme parks a lot and these come in handy about halfway through the day when our phones are starting to die. With my Galaxy S3, I can get a full charge and a bit more with the 3000 mAh. You just charge the Lifeguard back up and have it ready for the next time.
I do wish it had a pouch or holder for me to keep the cord with it, so it won't get lost. For now, I took a rubber band and wrapped the cord to the charger so they will stay together, otherwise I know I will lose it.
As you would with any battery, keep in a safe temperature and free of moisture. I am very pleased with this charger. It goes with us in our "outing" bag that we take to theme parks, shopping, etc.
