Out of the box: contained in plastic bag, there are 4 bags. 2 medium white bags, a large white bag and a large black bag.

Design / Aesthetics: The material is a small knit mesh much like cloth. It's soft and lightweight.

Put it to use: 

The white and black bags make it easier to separate your lights / darks or can be used to help you distinguish the clothing you are separating from each other. These are typically used to protect your delicates and should especially be used for any bras, etc that could easily be damaged. I like to use them to separate out socks and for anything that has a string or loose ends. There is always an incident with hoodies with strings where it wraps around the agitator. (Yes, I still use an old-school washer with an agitator in the middle. One day I will have a shiny new front loader. A girl can dream....) 

For whatever reason you choose, toss those clothes into the bag, zip it up then tuck the zipper under the elastic. That way the zipper isn't clunking around on the side of the washer. It's so simple to use. I've been putting the socks and just smaller clothes for each child into separate bags, so that when it's all done, I can deal with their laundry grouped together and it saves me a little time. 

I can see why Inside Smarts Premium Delicates Laundry Bags are rated so highly. It is so much better than mesh bags I've used in the past.
