Looking for something new to get the kids for Christmas? I've discovered a new toy that is just as much fun for the adults as it is the kids. Perplexus is a maze inside a plastic sphere that will be sure to challenge and enthrall you.
I was provided the Perplexus Original to review and I have to say, it is one of my all time favorite items to review. When I first saw the game online, my first thought was that the kids would love this! Now that I have it in my hands, I am the one hogging it and can't put it down. The point of the game is to guide the little marble along the numbered maze inside a plastic sphere.
My kids absolutely loved it. My son is more of a pro at it and zipped through most of the maze easily. My daughter had a little more trouble and has a tendency to give up easily. I've had it for about 2 weeks and still can't get past #34. It goes up to 100. I shared the game with my work-buddies and they were even more competitive than I am. My buddy Ryan actually made it to 100 which I am so jealous of and hope to get there soon.
One really great thing about it is that there are no little pieces to lose, which makes it easy to take with you on-the-go. It's been dropped several times and hasn't broken. There is even a plastic pedestal that it can rest on when you have to set it down. I can vouch that it is frustrating when you are right at the number that you want to pass, and the phone rings, or something urgent happens that you need to set it down. The only thing I'd like to see, is the numbers be outlined. Since they are just slightly raised, it can be difficult to find the next number.
The one that I tried was the original. There are others that I want to get like the rookie and the epic models. These are definitely on my list for the kids for Christmas. You can find them for about $20 which is a reasonable price. I am considering getting a couple for family members too.
Bottom Line is this game has me hooked. I can't say enough good things about it and know that it will provide you with a challenge, just as it did me. It would also be great to keep on your coffee or side table, so when company comes over and says, Ooh What's This.... You can get them hooked on Perplexus too.
