I had the honor of having my own charm made for me. I chose 2 of my favorite pictures of my children and sent them to Janelle - the creator of Sodderbug. She has a true talent in soldering the jewelry herself, incorporating your photos to make unique pieces of jewelry.
Here's a little about Janelle from her site:It's amazing that she can accomplish so much and create such beautiful jewelry. I admire her passion and drive. I adore my necklace so much! The charm is made beautifully. You can tell that it was soldered by hand and a lot of time and effort was put into it. The edges are smooth but not perfect, which I love. That makes this particular piece of jewelry so special to me.
"I am the Founder of Miles for Smiles and owner of Sodderbug. And? I'm mom to two children who keep me running. I like to stay busy but also love to nap every day for 2 hours while my kids nap! I love to run and have completed 4 marathons. In fact, it was a marathon that led to the start of my business!
While in Chicago preparing to run the Chicago Marathon, I stayed with a friend. She was excited to take me out and show me the town that weekend, but all I wanted to do was see her craft room. She took me down there, taught me how to solder - which was merely one of her hobbies - and I spent the weekend distracting myself from the anxious feelings that can come just before running a marathon - and I was hooked!
When I'm not making charms for you, I am elbow deep in one of my many other interests. These include running, yoga, cooking, sewing and anything crafty. You can read more about these interests over at my blog, Sew Blessed."
Here are the pics I sent her:
And here is the necklace from them:
I chose my children's pictures but you can do so many different things with them. Here's some ideas I had for charms:
- Favorite quote or saying.
- Blog charm - With your blog button printed on it.
- Newborn - pic on one side and Birth info on the other side.
- Memorial - pic on one side and info about their life on the other side.
- Silly joke charm - Question on one side and answer on the other side.
- Fav celebrity and your name on the other side....(Mrs. Jude Law, just for instance)
Here's a some of my favorites from her site:
