My thoughts:
My kitchen needed this mandoline slicer desperately. I've been cutting vegies by hand for years without really having an urge to buy one. Now that I have one though, it's a game changer. If only for cutting up cucumbers alone, I'm a happy camper.
Out of the package, it is very attractive to look at. All the pieces fit into the base nicely and is compact for easy storage. That is a huge benefit. The container on the bottom catches the food as it is cut and falls down. You don't really have a lot of room in it though, so every few swipes, I shake the container to make the food shimmy down to the other end. There are also these little grooves along the bottom of the white piece that make it convenient to place right on top of a mixing/serving bowl.
To use, it's so simple. You just slide in the blades you want then place the food on the top. If it's long like a cucumber or carrot, you can run it back and forth over the blade while holding it. When it gets worked down to a few inches from the blade, you should get the pusher tool and use that on top of the food to make your swipes. It will hold the food secure for you, while protecting your hands from getting cut.
The wavy cut is much thicker than I'd expect and the flat cut is rather thin, but this mandoline slicer is awesome. I have grown fond of using the wavy to cut my carrots and the flat for my cucumbers. It's easy cleanup. You can simply wash with soapy water. I use a brush to clean the blades, only because of my fear of being cut, but they wash easily and can be placed back into their slots for easy storage. The pusher can be stored inside the clear compartment. I did receive this product in exchange for my honest review. I love it and would definitely purchase more for gifts.
You will eat the same amount, but you will reduce the amount of acid your body produces.
