I have never used a French press before, and am so pleased to have the opportunity to review the Francois et Mimi 50oz Glass French Press. I am a big time coffee lover. I drink it everyday. At home, I have one of those drip no-frills coffee pots. I've heard great things about the quality of coffee flavor that you get with a french press vs a drip coffee maker.

I went with the 1:10 method, using 2 oz coffee grounds to 20 oz water. I removed the strainer and lid, and put the coffee grounds in the bottom. I boiled the water, and added some in with the grounds. After letting that sit for a minute, I added in the rest of the water, giving it a stir, and put the top back on.(leaving the plunger at the top) Then, I let it sit for about 4 more minutes. Now the fun part, you slowly press down the plunger. The coffee comes up through the strainer, while the grounds are kept at the bottom by the strainer.
You don't have to keep going back and forth, if done correctly, one full pump should do the trick. Pour the pressed finished coffee into another container or a decanter. If you leave it to sit, it will continue to brew. There is such a thing as over-brewing coffee, and you don't want that.
I like the fact that this can be used without electricity. It would be great to take with you camping or where there is a bonfire to heat the water. Of course, you 'd have to keep in mind that it is glass and can be broken.
I've read that it works great to brew loose tea. I am a big tea fan and have several flavors of loose tea, so I will be using it for that also. It could also help with making nut milk but I've never ventured to try making that myself. (not yet, anyway)
The coffee that you end up with is very dark, which you'd assume is going to be very strong. It gives a smooth and rich flavor that I didn't feel the need to doctor up with sugar or creamer.

The French press is a beautiful product. I love how elegant it looks and how you can see through for each step of the process. Cleanup is a breeze. You can hand wash or even use the dishwasher.

Bottom line: I am now officially a French Press user. I can make a "pot" of coffee in my French Press for less time than it takes for my old drip coffee maker to brew the same amount. You end up with a better tasting cup of coffee and the product itself is much more attractive. I definitely recommend.
