Bakery on Main has a great variety of gluten-free granola products. Now they've expanded their selection of granola based products to include instant oatmeal. The Oatmeal is made with whole grains and other wholesome goodies, making it gluten-free.
I am including more gluten-free foods into my diet and explore each new product that I find. I'd reviewed Bakery on Main's granola products about 6 months ago and was impressed by the delicious flavor in such a healthy snack. My goal is to eat better but I'm far from where I need to be toward my goal of eating healthy and incorporating exercise in my daily life.
Bakery on Main started out as a small bakery on .....you guessed it, Main Street in Connecticut.(in 1992) They got the idea to make granola snacks that were gluten-free when their customers compalined about the taste of gluten-free products. They gluten-free business took off and they continue to thrive making you quality products to this day. The maintain quality by baking in small batches.
When given the opportunity to try out the Bakery on Main oatmeal, I jumped at the chance. I'm a huge fan of oatmeal. (eat it almost every morning) The flavors available are:
Apple Pie
Strawberry Shortcake
Maple Multigrain Muffin
With the individual packaging, I can easily grab one, and toss it in my work bag. Now that I'm working at night again, it's the perfect 3am snack.
Here is my experience with the Strawberry Shortcake:
There is oatmeal, flavoring and dried slices of strawberries.
You can either add it to already hot water or put water in and
microwave. I've always cooked it in the microwave, so that's what I did.
eI like it somewhere in the middle between spongy and soupy. I added a
little milk in there for the consistency that I prefer.
You can add whatever else you'd like in it for additional flavoring. If
you like syrup, nuts, more fruit, etc. It's all a matter of preference.
Keeping in mind, all the wholesome goodness packed into this oatmeal, I
wasn't sure what to expect. I half expected it to be bland and taste
like healthy food, and half expected it to be overloaded with sweetness
to overcompensate the healthy stuff.
It fell somewhere in the middle. I really enjoyed the taste and was
pleased that the strawberry wasn't overbearing. When you get one of the
strawberry slices, it is apparent, and they are almost mooshy, but that
isn't far from the texture of the oatmeal, so it blends well together. I actually
added in some sugar to sweeten it up, as I always do with my oatmeal. I
think it's almost by habit at this point. I did make sure to try it
before adding the sugar into it and I really enjoy the taste overall.
I definitely recommend this. Bakery on Main has yummy food that is
packed full of healthy goodies. This is another product from their line
that I am so pleased to try. You can also check them out online and see
their wonderful granola products.
